Confirmed speakers:

  • Professor Phil Harris, Executive Director of the Business Research Institute, University of Chester

Phil is Executive Director, he was Dean of University of Chester Business School from 2009 to 2014 and holds the Westminster Chair of Marketing and Public Affairs at the University. He is a past Chairman of the Marketing Council (UK) PLC, Board member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Professor of Marketing at the University of Otago, New Zealand and Founding Director of the Centre for Corporate and Public Affairs at Manchester Metropolitan University.

  • Dr Wing Lam, Director of China Centre, University of Chester

Wing is an entrepreneur-turned academic. Before pursuing an academic career, Wing spent nearly ten years in commerce (international trading, consultancy and internal auditing) in her native Hong Kong. Her international industrial and academic background helps to shape her research areas and thus her academic career. Passionate about bridging the gap between the academic community and the business world, Wing has been actively involved in research and outreach activities which emphasise both the practical and theoretical values.

  • Mr Sen Yang, International Programme Director, Business Research Institute and China Centre (BRICC), University of Chester

Sen is responsible for developing bespoke international programmes and managing partnerships for the university. Outside of his work for the university, he is a self-made serial entrepreneur and runs businesses including a software development start-up focusing on introducing disruptive technologies into higher education, as well as a consultancy businesses to connect higher educations and other stakeholders between the UK and China.

  • Mr Colin Tan, Director of Operations for TusPark Newcastle

Colin is the Director of Operations for TusPark Newcastle, the first international TusPark fully-owned by TUS Holdings, China’s largest innovation ecosystem of over 200 bases in every major city in China. He works with TUS’s partners in the UK to help businesses, universities and governments to enter and scale-up in the Chinese market. TUS is affiliated with Tsinghua University, China’s top university for technology and science, and was created to help develop the country’s “Silicon Valley” area in Beijing, Zhongguancun, which TUS UK also represents.

  • Prof. Yu Shi, Research Professor of Smart Composite Structure, Lead of Chester Smart Composite Group (CSCG), University of Chester

Yu is currently the Research Professor in Mechanical Engineering, University of Chester, leading the Chester Smart Composite Group (CSCG). He has successfully secured external Innovate UK funds by total budget of £2.05M since 2018, collaborating with SMEs, OEMs such as McLaren, Scania, Titan wind (Jiangsu, China) as well as Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA).
