Chinese students studying at Bangor and Chester took part in a basketball match held on March 23th in the sports hall at the University of Chester’s Parkgate Road campus. The match was organised by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) of Chester and UoC China centre, supported by the CSSA of Bangor University.
This first collaboration with Bangor’s CSSA has been a great success. The two sides established close cooperation before the match with pre-event publicity and have laid a good foundation for future cooperative projects between the CSSA of both universities.
After a fierce competition, the students from Bangor University won the competition 58-30. Despite their loss, the Chester players still enjoyed the match. Some of the students commented “This is a good chance for us to have a proper match, because sometimes students have their own things to do and it’s hard to get all the team members together at the same time. Also, it’s a good opportunity to make new friends. ”
A basketball with the names of all the players written on it was awarded as a victory prize to the members of the Bangor University basketball team. Players exchanged souvenirs from their own universities and continued the friendly communication after the match.
Ying Zhao, the president of UoC CSSA stated “The match brings relaxation for students in their busy study. We look forward to cooperating with Bangor CSSA in the future and to organise more activities for students.”
The players took part in a group photo after the award ceremony. Thanks are due to to all CSSA members and volunteers who worked hard for this activity, as well as for the support from UoC China Centre.
