PROFESSOR Phil Harris, Executive Director of the University of Chester’s Business Research Institute, delivered a lecture on Machiavelli at the national Public Affairs Conference, held in London.
Phil is a founding editor of the Journal of Public Affairs and holds the Westminster (Grosvenor) Professorship in Marketing and Public Affairs.
The theme of this year’s conference, organised by the Dods Group Plc and CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations), focussed on ‘Uncertainty’, including Brexit and its repercussions and also changes in the digital revolution.
Phil’s talk, entitled Machiavelli’s Advice to Princes and Princesses to Succeed Post Brexit’, examined the importance of the relationships a leader has with those around them. Other
speakers included; Annabel Gaba, Head of Public Affairs for Virgin Trains; Emma Greenwood, Director of Policy and Public Affairs, Cancer Research UK; and Lord Andrew Lansley, Member of the House of Lords.
